Phases and criteria to be taken into account
The international standard UNE-EN ISO 15189 develops the accreditation criteria in two main sections: management requirements and technical requirements.
Pre-analytical phase
This stage covers the time from the moment the sample is requested until the laboratory technician collects the sample to start the analysis.
Analytical Phase
The tests requested for the analyses are carried out, the results are obtained, validated and interpreted by the laboratory specialists.
Post-analytical phase
It includes confirmation of results, reference intervals, timeliness of results, laboratory reporting and confidentiality of results information.
